Modular ServoRam uses a wide air-gap, constant-reluctance design. This ram features an electromagnetic ram with a more conventional copper-in-steel stator. The advantage of this is that it allows the use of thinner and lower-cost magnets. In severe testing of the prototype modular ram machine, it was proved to be highly robust in the face of mechanical, thermal and magnetic stresses.
